Rachel Godfrey

I went to St Brendan’s Sixth form college for one year and got my AS exams in History, Media, and Communications & Culture. While I was doing the courses I realised that A levels weren’t really for me and that I wanted to be in a work environment rather than a school environment to continue learning. I started looking in to apprenticeships in December and went for a few interviews, but didn’t feel they were the right opportunities for me. In June I saw the BANES Business Admin apprenticeship advertised, went for the interview and felt it was a good fit for me. I was offered it in July and started in early August.

So far in my apprenticeship I’ve gained lots of experience working with the general public as I’m often taking phone calls and answering emails about the school admissions in BANES. I’ve also gained experience of a real working environment which has helped me mature in some ways and to know more about what will be expected of me in the future.

At the end of my apprenticeship I’ll receive an NVQ level 2 Diploma in Business Administration, through completing my Bath College coursework and from feedback from the people I work with in the Council.
